Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was picked up by Hobart Hurricanes during the player draft for the Big Bash League 2025-26 in Melbourne on Thursday.
The 22-year-old was also picked by the Hurricanes last season, but the leggie could not make his BBL debut as he could not join the side due to his commitments in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Hurricanes later replaced Rishad with Afghan leg-spinner Waqar Salamkheil.
Bangladesh are scheduled to host Ireland for an all-format series in November-December and will play their next series against Pakistan in March next year.
Rishad is expected to be available for the forthcoming season, set to begin on December 21, as Bangladesh have no international fixtures during that window, according to the ICC鈥檚 Future Tours Programme.
Though the BPL is set to commence in late December or January, this timing may prevent him from participating for the entire season.
Rishad also featured for the Pakistan Super League winners Lahore Qalandars, where he took 13 wickets in seven matches.
