The three-man spin attack of Bangladesh ‘A’ team toiled hard as their New Zealand counterparts managed 104-1 in reply to the hosts’ 357 in the first innings of their second four-day match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.Ìý

Bangladesh ‘A’ fielded three spinners in Nayeem Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, and Hasan Murad in a four-man bowling attack. Interestingly, the only wicket so far was taken by the lone pacer Khaled Ahmed, who had Rhys Mariu for 14.Ìý


But opener Curtis Heaphy (41) and Joe Carter (48) added an unbroken partnership of 90 runs at the close of the second day.Ìý

Earlier, after the play was delayed by two hours due to rain, Bangladesh ‘A’ resumed on 123-4 with Amite Hasan on 16 and Mahidul Islam Ankon on one. Mahidul failed to convert his start and was dismissed for 24.

Amite, however, provided a solid foundation, scoring 67 off 110 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and a six before falling to Dean Foxcroft’s off-spin.

Skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan contributed a valuable 48 to push the total past 350. Bangladesh ‘A’ were eventually bowled out for 357.

For the visitors, Ben Lister and Jayden Lennox were the standout bowlers, picking up two wickets apiece.
