The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team players are keeping themselves busy with training as there is no series ahead of the World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in September-October this year in India.
Most of the players are currently in Cox’s Bazar, where a fitness training camp is being held. The camp will run until May 18, before the players move to BKSP in Savar, where a skill camp will be held.
Fourteen players have already joined the camp in Cox’s Bazar, while another was supposed to join on Tuesday.
Bangladesh booked their place in the World Cup after toppling the West Indies by a better net run rate in the qualifier in Pakistan last month.
According to the women’s future tour programme of the ICC, the Bangladesh national women’s team has no series scheduled before the World Cup.
The chief selector of the women’s wing, Sajjad Ahmed, said that the BCB is trying to arrange a series.
‘We’re trying to manage a series before the World Cup. However, if we are unable to manage the series, we must ensure the players remain occupied, Sajjad told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Tuesday.
‘Some players are playing in the emerging team against South Africa. There is the NCL ahead where the national team players will take place if there is no series,’ he added.
The latest cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship finished with Bangladesh’s series against the West Indies in January.
Eight teams, including Bangladesh, will participate in the World Cup.
Out of the eight teams, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka have recently played in a tri-series. England will play against the West Indies, India, and New Zealand this summer, while Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa have series scheduled before the World Cup.
