
Taskin Ahmed will not need surgery as the pacer has been recommended for non-surgical treatment of his Achilles tendon problem, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Tuesday.
The pacer is currently in London, where he recently consulted with a team of medical specialists. He was accompanied by BCB senior physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury. Taskin was assessed by an ankle surgeon, a sports physician and a sports physiotherapist.
Ìý‘Following a detailed evaluation, the collective medical opinion has recommended non-surgical management of the condition at this stage. A comprehensive rehabilitation plan has been formulated and will be implemented under the supervision of the Bangladesh National Team support staff,’ BCB said in a press release.Ìý
Debashis said that they were optimistic about his progress with the current procedure. Ìý
‘The specialists believe that a conservative, non-surgical approach is the best course of action for Taskin at this time,’ said Debshahis.Ìý
‘The rehabilitation programme is tailored to gradually restore his fitness and manage the tendon condition effectively. We are optimistic about his progress.
‘Taskin is expected to regain match fitness by early June, pending successful completion of his rehabilitation,’ added Debashis.Ìý
Taskin, who last played in March in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, was not considered for the forthcoming tour of UAE and Pakistan.Ìý
He was not considered for the T20 captaincy either. The chairman of cricket operations of BCB, Najmul Abedeen Fahim, said that the current fitness pattern of Taskin wasn’t thought of as suitable for the captaincy role.Ìý
