Opener Abdul Majid scored an unbeaten hundred, hitting a four off the last ball of the match, to give Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club their first win as they beat Partex Sporting Club by four wickets at the BKSP-3 in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first, Partex made 223 in 49.5 overs despite a 98-run opening partnership from Joyraj Sheikh (54) and Rubel Mia (52). No other Partex batter could even reach the 30-run mark after that.

Mahmudul Hasan and Al-Amin Jr each took three wickets for Tigers.

After losing Amit Majumder early in the chase, Majid and Asadulla Al Galib (50) put on 107 runs for the second wicket.

But they needed 10 off the last over and three off the last ball. Majid, who was on 96 in the last ball, hit Taufiq Ahmed towards the square leg to bring his hundred and Rupganj’s first win of the league.

In another match, Imrul Kayes scored 86 off 85 to help Agrani Bank Cricket Club to beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 46 runs at the BKSP-4.

Agrani Bank put on 294-7 in 50 overs, and then Shinepukur were restricted to 248-5 despite captain Rafsan Rayan’s hundred.

The win lifted Agrani Bank to the third position of the points table, as they are now tied with Abahani Limited and Gazi Group Cricketers in terms of points but only behind due to net run rate after the sixth round.

Opting to bat first, Agrani Bank got three fifty-run partnerships from the top three wickets to get a fighting score of 294-7 in 50 overs; Imrul was part of two of those fifty partnerships. Before Imrul, opener Shadman Islam scored 53 off 66.

In reply, Shinepukur became 103-5 in the 25th over. After that, they didn’t lose any more wickets as captain Rafsan Rayan and Minhajul Abedin put on a 145-run partnership off 153 balls. Rafsan remained unbeaten on 106 off 130, while Minhajul made 51 off 61.

Agrani Bank off-spinner Nayeem Hasan took 2-34 while left-arm spinner Arif Ahmed took claimed 2- 41.

Gulshan Cricket Club’s Farhad Reza (47* off 36) and Mehedi Hasan (32 off 18) put on an unbroken 54-run partnership off 36 balls for the ninth wicket to snatch a two-wicket victory from Brothers Union at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the day’s other match.

Three fifties from opener Bishal Chowdhury (83 off 75), Mizanur Rahman (50 off 56), and Aich Mollah (65 off 61) helped Brothers to amass 290-9 in 50 overs after being asked to bat first.

Nihad Uz Zaman and Asaduzzaman Payel each took three wickets for Gulshan, who used as many as eight bowlers.

Gulshan lost five wickets for 100 runs within 20 overs and were in an uncomfortable position in the run chase.

But two veterans, Naeem Islam (50 off 60) and Elias Sunny (53 off 62), stood up to put on a 99-run partnership off 100 balls to keep them in the hunt before Farhad and Mehedi finished it off.  Shohag Gazi took 4-44 for Brothers.Â
