After much controversy in the just concluded edition of the BPL T20, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has said that they are going to oversee the international players’ payment and logistics as well as planning for stringent financial protocols.

In a statement given on Saturday, BCB said that they are ‘dedicated to ensuring efficient operation of the Bangladesh Premier League and the welfare of all participating players.’

From now on, they will assume responsibility for the contract and match fees of all international players signed from the BPL draft and will ensure timely and transparent payments.

The BCB will also oversee all logistical arrangements for the smooth return of overseas players to their respective destinations upon the conclusion of their BPL commitments.

They will collaborate closely with BPL franchises to establish stricter financial protocols, safeguarding player interests and streamlining payment processes.

In the latest edition, where Fortune Barishal retained the title, the overseas players of Durbar Rajshahi boycotted a match due to their non-payment issue.

Earlier, the local players also boycotted one of their practice sessions. As a result, the BCB and then the ministry of youth and sports had to intervene.

BCB president Faruque Ahmed said that they are committed to upholding the integrity of the BPL.

‘These initiatives underscore the BCB’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the BPL and providing a professional experience for all players, both domestic and international.’ said Faruque.

‘The BCB will continue to engage with all stakeholders to strengthen the operational and financial aspects of the league,’ the BCB boss added.
