Farhad Hossain, a domestic giant, retired from first-class cricket on Tuesday after playing 161 matches.聽

The 37-year-old scored 9,065 runs, the fifth highest in Bangladesh while averaging 35.97. He hit 18 hundreds and 46 fifties. He scalped 165 wickets with his off spin.聽


But he never represented his country.聽

Farhad made his first-class debut in 2005 for Rajshahi against Barishal. His last match was against Rangpur Division in the ongoing National Cricket League in Rajshahi.聽

His team suffered a 101-run defeat in his last first-class match. He scored 26 and nine in two innings of the match.聽

Farhad was presented with a Rajshahi Division shirt signed by all the players and also received a commemorative crest from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, which was handed over to him by former national team opener and member of BCB national selection panel Hannan Sarker at the end of the match.聽

Former Bangladesh and Rajshahi Division captain Khaled Mashud and match referee and former national player Ehsanul Hoque were present during the felicitation.
