The two remaining second-round matches of the ongoing National Cricket League concluded in draws at the respective venues on Tuesday.

Naeem Islam’s valiant 75-run innings and Tanbir Hayder’s unbeaten 21 off 126 balls helped Rangpur secure a draw against Dhaka at the BKSP-3 Ground.

Dhaka initially had the upper hand over Rangpur after scoring 327, buoyed by Ashikur Rahman Shibli’s (129) maiden first-class ton, in response to Rangpur’s first-innings total of 253.

Rangpur resumed the day on 28-2, overnight batters Mohammad Rizwan (32) and Naeem put together 64 runs for the second wicket but soon they were reduced to 101-5 as the middle order wobbled.

However, after all-rounder Naeem’s heroics, Tanbir and Rishad Hossain (19) confronted Dhaka bowlers to take control at the end.

Rangpur eventually finished on 167-7 after 101 overs. Shuvagata Hom, Anamul Haque, and Salauddin Sakil picked up two wickets each.

At Khulna, the Barishal division and Khulna settled for a draw after the dominance of the batters.

Batting first, Khulna declared their innings on 408-9 after four half-centuries, including Anamul Haque Bijoy’s 95.

Tanvir Islam was Barishal’s standout bowler, taking four wickets for 124 runs.

Following that, opening batter Abdul Mazid struck 134, Salman Hossain Emon’s 73, and Iftakhar Hossain’s 43 propelled Barishal to 287-3 in 96 overs before the closing.

Earlier in the match, the first day was completely washed out, and only 34.2 overs were bowled on the second day.

Sylhet won against Chattogram by six wickets, and Dhaka Metro beat Rajshahi in the other two matches of the second round.

Metro holds the top spot after two victories, while Rangpur is in second place on the points table.
