Bangladesh women’s national team went 4-0 behind in their five-match Twenty20 International series suffering another thumping defeat by 56 runs (DLS method) in the fourth match in Sylhet on Monday.

After losing three games on the trot, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty opted to field first on Monday and they started well, dismissing Shafali Verma in the second over.

However, India raced to 48-2 in 5.5 overs as Dayalan Hemalatha scored 22 off 14 balls before rain interrupted the game.

Following the rain break, the match was reduced to 14 overs, and Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s 26-ball 39, along with Richa Ghosh’s 15-ball 24 saw India post 122-6 in 14 overs.

Marufa Akter and Rabeya Khan picked up two wickets each, while Shorifa Khatun took one. 14-year-old debutant Habiba Islam Pinky went wicketless.

Bangladesh, chasing the revised target of 125, were never in the chase as the four-over powerplay produced just 21 runs despite the asking rate being close to nine.

Regular loss of wickets meant they could only score 68-7 in their 14 overs, thus succumbing to a big defeat.

Dilara Akter top-scored for Bangladesh with 21, while Rubya Haider scored 13.

Deepti Sharma and debutant Asha Sobhana took two wickets each for India, along with a wicket each for Pooja Vastrakar and Radha Yadav.
