A youth rally and procession with the theme Use of Alternative Products to Plastic and Polythene was held in Agargaon area on Sunday organised by the Department of Environment to make the youth aware against environmental pollution.
Chief guest Dhaka North City Corporation administrator Mohammad Azaz inaugurated the rally by flying an eco-friendly kite as part of the ‘Youth Festival 2025’. The rally was presided over by director general of the Department of Environment Md Kamruzzaman.
The youth took part in the procession holding placards with public awareness slogans such as ‘No more polythene, nature will win’, ‘Find organic alternatives, stop polythene pollution’, ‘Avoid polythene, build a pollution-free country’ etc. the procession started from the Department of Environment and circled various roads in Agargaon area.
Students from the Department of Youth Development, Department of Jute, Jute Diversification Centre, SME Foundation, Green Savers, Design by Rubina, ACI Fertiliser, Prism Foundation, and St Joseph Higher Secondary School participated in the youth rally and procession.
The youth rally highlighted the harmful effects of plastic and polythene on the environment and encouraged the youth to use eco-friendly alternatives such as jute bags, cloth bags, paper packaging, bamboo and cane products, and production of organic fertiliser from waste.
