The Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday said that it arrested three suspects in the killing of mobile phone trader Akash Ghosh at Enayetbazar in Chattogram following a dispute over unpaid repair charges.

The arrested people are Md Sani, 24, Md Yusuf, 35, and Shakil Alam Faisal, 26.


RAB-7 company commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Tawhidul Islam at briefing said that prime suspect Sani was arrested at Chandanaish Friday evening and based on his information, Yusuf and Shakil were arrested at Chaitanya Goli under the Kotwali police station.

According to the battalion, about a month ago Sani gave a mobile phone to Akash Ghosh for display repair with a cost of Tk 1,500, and Sani paid part of the amount.

On Thursday evening, when Akash asked for the due, Sani called him to the Kasaipara area where Akash was stabbed in a planned attack.

Later, local people rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Kotwali police officer-in-charge Abdul Karim said that Akash’s family filed a case naming six people.

The arrested were produced before a court on Saturday and the court sent them to jail.
