The Election Commission has registered 66 non-governmental organisations as local election observer groups for the next five years.
In a statement issued on Thursday night, the commission confirmed that the organisations had been approved under the Election Observation Policy 2025.
The approval allowed the organisations to monitor the forthcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections as well as various local government polls.
According to the commission, the approval aims to strengthen domestic observation capacity and enhance transparency in the electoral process ahead of the next national elections.
The registered organisations include Pathway, Pallisree, RISDA-Bangladesh, Rashmi Human Development Organisation, Integrated Community Development Society , Bakerganj Forum, Active Aid Welfare Organisation, Sathi, Bakultali Mohila Sangsad, the Association of Muslim Welfare Agencies in Bangladesh, Hope, Adhikar, RPO Foundation, the Organisation for Social Advancement , Samaj Unnayan Palli Sangstha, the Human Rights Support Society, Sangati Samaj Kalyan Sangstha, Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh, Light House, Rupantar, the Society for Bright Social Services, the Abdul Momen Khan Memorial Foundation, Gana Unnayan Kendra, Chand Manab Unnayan Sangstha, the Bureau of Social Watch, Antorongo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha, and the Professional Research Advocacy Training Action Yard. Also included are Manabadhikar o Samaj Unnayan Sangstha, the Bangladesh Society for Ecological Research Initiative, Ashray Foundation, Karma Unnayan Kendra, Alokito Samaj Kalyan Sangstha, Bichoron Kalyan Sangstha, Impact Initiative, Action for Social Development, Seba Foundation, the Rural Advancement Committee for Bangladesh, Democracywatch, Prottay Social Foundation, and the Voluntary Rural Development Society.
Other approved organisations are URPSA – Rural and Urban Poor’s Partner for Social Advancement, the Association for Socio-Economic Advancement , Charu Development Association, SCOPE, the Participatory Advancement Social Service, Community Assistance for Rural Development, the Centre for Rights and Development, Facilities for Agriculture Rehabilitation & Environment, Agragoti Seba Sangstha, Dinajpur Palli Unnayan Prochesta, Samahar – Multidisciplinary Research and Development Foundation, Biyan Moni Society, Garib Unnayan Sangstha, Sachetan Nagorik Society, Dipta Mohila Unnayan Sangstha, Nazrul Smriti Sangsad, Brati Samaj Kalyan Sangstha, Manab Sahayak Kendra, and Rural Vision.
The list further includes Grameen Economic and Social Advancement, Moulik Odhikar Bastobayan Sangstha, the Bibi Ayesha Foundation, Daktar Bari Social Welfare Foundation, the Youth Initiative for Socio-Economic Activity, Muktir Bandhan Foundation, and Disha Samaj Kalyan Sangstha.
