The police recovered bodies of three persons, including a woman, from the Khilgaon and Badda areas in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Lenin, 51, Saiful Islam, 30, and Saiful’s wife Shakila, 25.
The police recovered the floating body of Muzaffar from Shantipur Culvert Road canal at Khilgaon on Saturday afternoon.
Khilgaon police station sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam said that they recovered the body after being informed by local people.
Rafiqul said that the police came to know about the identity of the deceased from his national identity card, which was in his trousers’ pocket.
He was a resident of Khilgaon.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital mortuary for autopsy, the police official said, adding that the exact cause of his death would be known once the autopsy was done.
The police on Saturday afternoon recovered decomposed bodies of Saiful and Shakila from a house at north Badda.
According to the police, Saiful worked as a gatekeeper at that house and his wife, Shakila, worked as a cook at the same house.
Local people noticed a foul smell coming from the house and informed the matter to the police.
After receiving the information, the police recovered the bodies and sent those to the DMCH mortuary for autopsy, said Badda police station officer-in-charge Habibur Rahman.
The police, however, could not tell anything about the cause of the death of the couple.
Legal action regarding the incident is under way, said Habibur.
