
The police recovered the unidentified bodies of three males from the Dhanmondi, Shahjahanpur and Banani areas in the capital on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Two of the deceased were youths in their twenties and one was of an elderly man.
One of the bodies was discovered floating behind Panshi Restaurant in Dhanmondi Lake on Wednesday morning, said the police.
Dhanmondi police sub-inspector Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan said that local people informed the police on Wednesday morning upon noticing the floating body.
鈥楲ater, the police recovered the body of the man, aged around 25 years old. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants. It is initially believed that the young man may have fallen into the lake and died,鈥 he said.
After completing the legal process, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, added the SI.
At Khilgaon, the body of a man aged around 60 years old was recovered from near the Khilgaon railway line at about 6:00am, Shahjahanpur police sub-inspector Afzal Hossain said.
鈥業t is initially believed that the man was a 鈥渧agabond鈥. People around the scene said that no one knew him or had seen him earlier,鈥 he said.
The SI further said that their primary assumption was that the man might have died of some illness and added that efforts were under way to identify him through information technology.
The body was kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, the body of an around 23-year-old unidentified youth was recovered from the side of the Banani Elevated Expressway.
Dhaka Airport鈥檚 railway police outpost sub-inspector Bazlur Rashid said that the deceased had serious injuries on various parts of his body, including his head.
鈥業t is believed that he died after falling from a moving train of the Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express. Efforts are under way to identify him,鈥 he also said.
