
Shamsuddin Biswas, who took part in the World War II as a British soldier, died at about 5:00am at a private hospital in Jashore on Wednesday.
Shamsuddin was 106.
He was suffering from old age complications, said his son Golam Mostafa.聽
The British fighter was son of late Golam Mostafa at Dogachhia village of Churamankathi union council under Jashore sadar upazila.
He is survived by two sons, two daughters and a number of relatives and well-wishers to mourn, family sources said.
He was still getting allowance from the British government until his death, his son said.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at his native village where Aninda Islam Amit, acting organizing secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, a representative of deputy commissioner Azaharul Islam, a number of army men and people from all walks of life participated.
Earlier, he was given guard of honour by a number of Bangladesh Army personnel.
He was later buried at his family graveyard.
