A college student died after being crushed by a train at Dakshin Surma in Sylhet on Wednesday early morning.
The deceased was identified as Motiur Rahman, 21, a second year honours student of Sylhet MC College, son of late Kutu Miah of Panichhara village at Chiknagul union under Jaintapur upazila in the district, police said.
Sylhet railway police station officer-in-charge Abdul Kuddus told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they recovered the victim’s severed body from the rail track at Parairchak under Dakshin Surma area in the city after being informed by the locals.
‘The body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination and a case was filed with the railway police station in this connection,’ he said in the evening.
Motiur’s elder brother Riazul Islam told reporters that apart from being a student, his brother had been teaching in a madrassah at the Dakshin Surma area.
‘Recently, private videos with one of his close friends leaked on social media. For this, Motiur suffered a serious mental shock and probably committed suicide,’ he alleged.
