Pirojpur Science and Technology University vice-chancellor Professor Md Shahidul Islam at a programme in Barishal on Saturday said that the youths would build a sustainable and inclusive Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while delivering address as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the first National Youth Research Summit 2025, which was organised by the Barisal University Research Society, said a press release.


About 500 participants from various educational institutions across the country participated in the summit titled Multidisciplinary Youth Research Towards a Sustainable Bangladesh,

He also said that through research and knowledge exchange, young people could become pioneers of change in society and the country.

Mentioning that research lays the foundation for a sustainable Bangladesh, Professor Shahidul Islam said, ‘Research not only increases the scope of knowledge; but also identifies the deep-rooted problems of society and finds effective and permanent solutions to those problems.’

The keynote speaker at the closing session was professor of chemistry, University of Dhaka, Md Abu Bin Hasan Susan.

Trust University vice-chancellor Professor Md Shahidul Islam, DU microbiology teacher Professor Mohammad Manjurul Karim and management information systems teacher Professor Md Rakibul Haque were present as special guests at the programme.

Presided over by Md Azam Khan, the programme was moderated by Jerin Tasnim, general secretary of Barisal University Research Society.

Earlier, Barisal University vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Toufiq Alam inaugurated the conference.
