
The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed a case against former chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽19.71 crore.
The commission鈥檚 deputy director, SM Rashedur Reza, filed the case with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1, said ACC deputy director for public relations Aktarul Islam.
According to the case statement, Hasnat Abdullah allegedly amassed illegal assets worth Tk聽19.71 crore and made suspicious transactions of Tk聽80 crore in his different bank accounts between 2011 and 2024.
Hasnat Abdullah was an Awami League lawmaker from the Barishal-1 constituency and the former chief whip.
He is a cousin of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The commission on Sunday approved the filing of a case against former Savar upazila chairman Manjurul Alam Rajib over allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth about Tk聽4.5 crore.
There is also an allegation of laundering Tk 109 crore against Manjurul Alam.
The commission approved the case at a meeting of the commission at its headquarters in the capital Dhaka on the day, said Aktarul.
