Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission held a seminar titled Advances in Nuclear Medicine in Bangladesh: A Journey of More than Four Decades at the Anwar Hossain Auditorium of BAEC in Dhaka on Thursday.
Science and technology ministry secretary Md Anwar Hossain was present as chief guest at the seminar, which was presided over by chairman of the BAEC Md Mazibur Rahman, said a press release.
Mazibur Rahman sought the ministry’s attention and cooperation in implementing necessary development projects, increasing manpower, setting up a high-power research reactor and resolving various complications in importing radioactive raw materials for the further progress of various institutions in the commission.
Anwar Hossain expressed concern about the increasing of cancer disease and called for increasing the scope of the commission’s research and service work.
Highlighting the positive attitude of the ministry in this regard, he emphasised the importance of presenting a specific plan on the part of the commission to remove the limitations.
Four scientific articles were presented on the history of nuclear medicine in Bangladesh, current diagnosis and treatment methods, the role of radioisotopes in it, and the future plans of the commission in this regard.
BAEC member, physical science, Debashish Pal delivered the welcome speech at the seminar attended by renowned scientists, physicians, educationists and policymakers of the country.
