Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will act as Chief Justice from October 14 to October 18, during the Thailand visit of chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.
鈥楧uring this time, or till chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed joins his office, justice Md Ashfaqul Islam will observe the duty of chief justice of the country,鈥� said a law and justice division notice.
Signed by law and justice division secretary Liaquet Ali Molla, the notice said that justice Ashfaqul Islam, the senior-most judge in the Appellate Division, was granted the president鈥檚 approval to perform the duties of the chief justice of Bangladesh in accordance with Article 97 of the constitution.
