At least eight people were killed and 13 others injured in road accidents in Feni, Naogaon, Jhenaidah and Narayanganj on Thursday.

抖阴精品 correspondent in Feni reported that three people were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident at Silonia on the Feni-Noakhali Regional Highway under Daganbhuiyan in the district.


Two of the deceased were autorickshaw driver Md Shraban, 20, son of Abdul Matin, was a resident of Dakshin Jaylaskar village; and Shamim Ara Begum, 50, wife of Shahidullah, a resident of Khushipur village under Jaylaskar union, and the identity of the other deceased could not聽 confirmed.

Mahipal highway police officer-in-charge Harun Ur Rashid said that the bus hit several other vehicles parked in roadside and then overturned at U-turn of Silonia Bazar due to the reckless speed.

Moments later, a pick-up coming from behind collided with the bus, leaving 12 others, including pedestrians, injured, he said,

A legal measure was under way in this regard, the OC added.

The injured were taken to Feni General Hospital and from there a critically injured Sahab Uddin was transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.聽

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that a union parishad chairman was killed after a power tiller-operated trolley hit his motorcycle on the Nazipur鈥揋aganpur Road in the Ramjibanpur area under Patnitala in Naogaon.

The deceased, Habibur Rahman, was chairman of Nazipur union parishad and former joint convener of Patnitala upazila BNP.

Patnitala police station inspector for investigation Abu Taleb said that the body would be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.

The BSS also reported that two people were killed and another injured when a passenger bus of Mandal Paribahan collided head-on with a battery-run autorickshaw at Atharomail Bazar area under Jhenaidah Sadar in the district.

The deceased were Nazrul Islam, 65, and his grandson Sifat Hossain, 8, residents of Nagar Bathan village under Jibannagar in Chuadanga.

Arapur highway police station OC Mrittunjoy Biswas said that as the families did not file any complaint, police handed over the bodies to their relatives.

In another incident, the BSS reported that two truck drivers, Rakib Hossain and Sagar Mia, were killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle in the Kanchpur area of Narayanganj.

Witnesses said that the accident occurred when a broken-down truck was being towed by another truck. The towing truck also broke down.聽

While both drivers were waiting by the roadside for help, a speeding vehicle hit them and fled the scene.

Highway police later sent the bodies to the morgue.
