On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Tourism Alliance Society organised a roundtable titled Tourism and Sustainable Transformation: Bangladesh Context at the Days Hotel in Dhaka on Sunday.

Chief executive officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Nuzhat Yasmin was present as chief guest while chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Saima Shahin Sultana as guest of honour at the roundtable, said a press release.


In recognition of their contribution and encouragement towards the promotion of sustainable tourism in Bangladesh, both were presented with commemorative crests by the organisers.

Discussions highlighted the immense potential of Bangladesh鈥檚 tourism sector, with particular emphasis on sustainable practices, eco-tourism and the necessity of joint collaboration between government agencies, the private sector and community stakeholders.

Participants also stressed the importance of preserving natural and cultural heritage as a means of attracting more international visitors.

Rezaul Ekram, general secretary of the organisation, briefed the audience on the objectives and vision of the Tourism Alliance Society, reaffirming its commitment to work hand in hand with all tourism stakeholders for the advancement of sustainable tourism in the country.

The meeting was presided over by HM Hakim Ali and moderated by Taufiq Rahman.
