Bangladesh Railway is going to run four special trains during the celebration of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindus in the country.

Durga Puja will be celebrated from September 28 to October 2.


Between September 30 and October 4, the special trains will run on Dhaka-Chattogram, Chattogram-Dhaka and Dhaka-Cox鈥檚 Bazar-Dhaka routes.

Decision has also been made to cancel the weekly day off of two trains to facilitate passengers during the puja celebration.

At a meeting held at Rail Bhaban in the capital Dhaka on September 25, the decisions were made, said a press release issued by the railways ministry.

Secretary to the ministry Md Fahimul Islam chaired the meeting.

According to the press release, people will enjoy two days of public holidays on October 1 and 2 on the occasion of Durga Puja and October 3 and 4 are weekly holidays.

The educational institutions will remain closed between September 28 and October 2 across the country on the occasion.

Tickets of the four special trains will be available online.

The weekly day off of Madhumati Express and Padma Express, both the intercity trains on Rajshahi-Dhaka-Rajshahi route, has been cancelled till October 4.

The September 25 meeting was also attended by Bangladesh Railway director general Md Afzal Hossain, among others.聽
