The Ansar and Village Defence Party force will deploy over 2,00,000 personnel to ensure security at 31,576 mandaps during the Durga Puja.

The personnel will provide special security for nine consecutive days between 24 September and 2 October, said a press release issued by the force on Tuesday.

The deployment and operational activities will be monitored through a tech-based system. The Ansar-VDP members will coordinate with other security agencies via a dedicated Puja-related smartphone app during the festival.

The deployment would be made in three categories. Eight personnel would be deployed for each ‘highly important’ mandap, six for every ‘important’ mandap and six for every ‘normal’ mandap.

Besides, 92 striking battalions, each comprising six personnel, will conduct patrols throughout the country during the Durga Puja festival.

Director general of the force Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, said that Bangladesh Ansar and VDP were committed to ensuring the security of the people.

‘We are hopeful that the well-coordinated security measures taken for Durga Puja will ensure a peaceful festival this year,’ he added.
