The police recovered the hanging body of a 20-year-old youth from a hotel room at Jatrabari in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is identified as Zahirul Islam Rakib, resident of Kazikandi village under Zajira police station in Shariatpur district.
Confirming the matter, Jatrabari police sub-inspector Mohammad Farhad Ali said that on information, they recovered the body from a room on the second floor of Asha Moni Residential Hotel in Jatrabai鈥檚 Dholaipar area.
After completing due legalities, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
Quoting the hotel鈥檚 manager, SI Farhad said that Zahirul rented Room 206 on Tuesday afternoon.
鈥業t is initially believed that Zahirul committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan with a bed sheet on Tuesday,鈥� he said.
The police also found a handwritten note that read, 鈥楽end my body home to my mother, SI Farhad said.
However, the actual cause of his death would be known after the autopsy, added the police official.
