
International Standard University has inaugurated the first batch of its master of public health programme through a ceremony on the university’s Mohakhali campus in Dhaka on Friday.
The event marked a milestone in ISU’s commitment to advancing higher education and public health leadership in Bangladesh, said a press release.
ISU vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Awal Khan attended as chief guest at the programme.
He highlighted the significance of public health education in building a stronger healthcare system. ‘This programme will equip students with the skills and knowledge to become competent public health professionals and researchers who can contribute meaningfully to both national and global health initiatives,’ he said.
Students of the first batch expressed their enthusiasm and commitment to improving healthcare services in Bangladesh.
They noted that the MPH programme would provide modern knowledge, research capacity and practical skills, enabling them to play a transformative role in the country’s health sector.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr Fahmida Binte Mesbah, head of the department of public health.
Distinguished guests included Professor HTM Quader Newaz, treasurer of ISU; Professor Manzur Morshed Mahmud, dean of the faculty of business studies; Professor Md Abul Kashem, dean of the faculty of engineering and technology and faculty of health sciences; public health specialists Professor Shafiqul Islam and Professor Shahanaz Chowdhury.
The welcome address was delivered by Professor Mohammad Ali.
