An attempt to flee from a Noakhali court by a murder case accused was foiled on Tuesday.
The incident happened about noon at the Noakhali District and Sessions Judge Court when accused Shahadat, while being escorted out by the police after hearing, suddenly jumped forward and dashed away, court officials said.
Noakhali Court inspector Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident, saying that he was caught by the police outside the court building.
Shahadat, a resident of Badalkot union in Chatkhil upazila and the son of Bablu Hossain, is facing charges in connection with the 2022 rape and murder of his 5-year-old girl cousin.聽
The police said that the victim鈥檚 brother filed a case and Shahadat was subsequently arrested and kept in jail custody.
