The Anti-Corruption Commission has suspended its two officials over allegations of corruption, bribery and amassing illegal wealth.

The two officials are ACC deputy director Mahbubul Alam and deputy assistant director Mohammad Zulfikar, both posted at the commission headquarters.


The decisions were taken at a meeting of the commission held on August 27, according to two separate notifications issued on Sunday signed by its chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen.

According to the notifications, allegations of corruption, bribery and illegal acquisition of wealth have been raised against Mahbubul Alam.

鈥楻ecent reports published in various national dailies have alleged that Mahbubul Alam obtained a huge amount of money issuing threats of filing cases.

Apart from this, he received Tk 1 crore from the principal and administrative officer of Ideal School in exchange of assurance about conducting no investigation, received Tk 10 crore from the managing director of Essential Drugs and amassed land and assets聽 worth about Tk 150 crore in Gulshan, Bashundhara, Joar Sahara, Demra and Sarishabari in Jamalpur.

The other notification said that the commission鈥檚 deputy assistant director Mohammad Zulfikar received financial benefits from former chairman of Arcade Real Estate Limited, promising him release from a case.

Zulfikar along with his family was also living in a flat by force without buying it or giving rent to its owner, said the notification.聽

Both the notifications stated that at the August 27 meeting the commission decided to suspend him.

Mahbubul and Zulfikar will receive subsistence allowance as per rule 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (Employees) Service Rules, 2008 during their suspension period, said the notification.
