At least three people, including a student of Rajshahi University, were killed in road accidents in Manikganj and Rajshahi on Wednesday night and Thursday.

Two of them were killed in Manikganj and the RU student was killed in Rajshahi.


The Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two people were killed and two others injured when a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on on the Hemayetpur-Manikganj regional highway in Singair upazila of Manikganj on Thursday.

The deceased are Abdul Mannan, 23, of Nilua village under Doulatpur upazila, and Monir Hossain, 60, of Kowri village under Harirampur upazila in the district.

Singair police station officer-in-charge JOM Towfique Azam said that a case was filed in this regard.

¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· Correspondent in Rajshahi reported that a student of Rajshahi University was killed in a road accident near the university’s Binodpur gate on the Dhaka–Rajshahi highway Wednesday night.

The deceased, Ifthekharul Islam Famin, a student og 2019–20 academic session of the English department, comes from Noakhali.

English department chairman Professor Mominul Islam said that Famin sustained critical injuries at around 10:45pm when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a battery-run auto-rickshaw.

Famin was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead about one hour and 15 minutes later.

Motihar police station OC Abdul Malek said that the police detained the auto-rickshaw driver.
