The police recovered the bodies of two women, one of whom was a garment worker, from separate areas of Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur district on Saturday night.聽
The body of Maria Akter Smrity, 21, wife of Shahidul Islam of Muktagacha upazila in Mymensingh, was recovered from a rented house in Kaliakair鈥檚 Purba Chandra area.
The body of Fatema Akter, 40, daughter of Khalil Mia of Alok Chobi village in Baliadanga upazila of Thakurgaon, was recovered from another rented house at Arabari of the upazila.
The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital on Sunday for post-mortem examinations.
Kaliakair police sub-inspector Sakhwat Hossain said that Maria and her husband Shahidul, a salon owner, had a quarrel on Saturday afternoon.
When Shahidul returned home in the evening, he found the house locked from inside, said the sub-inspector, adding that with the help of neighbours, Shahidul broke the door and found Maria鈥檚 body hanging.
Mouchak police out-post sub-inspector Omar Faruk said that Fatema and her husband Monir Hossain, also a garment worker, lived in a rented house from where her body was recovered.
It was Fatema鈥檚 third marriage, he mentioned.
The police suspect that she committed suicide by hanging herself following a family dispute.
