The interim government is going to pilot a signalling system at seven crossings in Dhaka city for two weeks from today.
The intersections are: the InterContinental hotel, Banglamotor, hotel Sonargaon, Farmgate, Bijoy Sarani, Chief Adviser’s Office, and Jahangir Gate.
The pilot will be started at 7:00am today, said a press note issued by the road transport and bridges ministry on Friday.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority office on August 28.
Chief adviser’s special assistant to the ministries of road transport and railways Sheik Moinuddin chaired the meeting.
He also visited the seven crossings on Friday.
The press note read that the seven crossings were situated on the corridor stretching from the High Court area to the airport.
The automated traffic signalling system has remained ineffective in the capital for the past several years.
