
Kushtia district council on Monday provided scholarships to meritorious poor students who have obtained GPA-5 in secondary school certificate and higher secondary certificate and equivalent examinations in 2024 and graduation and equivalent 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year.
Under the revenue fund of Kushtia district council in the 2024–25 financial year, the scholarship-giving programme was organised at Kushtia Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.
Presided over by chief executive officer of Kushtia district council Mukul Kumar Moitra, Kushtia deputy commissioner Md Taufiqur Rahman was present as chief guest at the event.
Kushtia police superintendent Md Mizanur Rahman, Kushtia civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Mohammad Kamal Hossain and Kushtia district education officer Abu Tayyab Md Yunus Ali were present as special guests at the event.
Students Md Zahid Hasan and Jannatul Ferdous Sraboni also spoke at the event.
At the event, 400 meritorious and poor students from six upazilas of Kushtia were given scholarships of Tk 5,000 each.
Addressing the students, Md Taufiqur Rahman said that to be successful, students must work hard. ‘You have to set goals and reach the goal.’
‘Every life has a different story and we have to make that story successful. Firstly, the talented must become good human being. The talented must change the country.’
