
A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed four accused on a three-day remand in a case filed over the murder of a man named Rahat Hossain Rabbi in the capital Dhaka on August 14.
Rabbi was beaten and stabbed to death by five to six individuals on the stairs of the second floor of a shisha bar at Banani.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman鈥檚 court passed the remand order after the investigating officer of the case, Banani police station sub-inspector Amjad Sheikh, produced the four accused in the court from jail and applied for a seven-day remand for each.
The accused sent on remand are Md Mir Hossain, 22, Md Fazle Rabbi, 24, Sabbir Ahmed Sumon, 30, and Arafat Islam Fahim, 27.
With the four, six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.
The four accused were arrested by police on August 15 and were sent to jail on the same day along with other two accused Maksudur Rahman Hamza and Abdul Malek Munna.
Later on August 16, a Dhaka court granted a one-day remand for Hamza and a three-day remand for Munna.
CCTV footage of the incident shows Rabbi in a white shirt surrounded by three people as they were coming down the stairs together.
Suddenly, they stopped and stabbed him multiple times, the footage shows. One of the attackers was also seen hitting Rabbi with an object.
The footage shows Rabbi attempting to move backwards towards the elevator, and one of his attackers could be seen throwing something at him. Then, another attacker came and stabbed Rabbi again near his right elbow before going down the stairs.
