A Bangladeshi was beaten to death and six were handed over to police by local people in India’s Meghalaya state over robbery suspicion, according to a BBC Bangla online report quoting Meghalaya state police.

The report also said that one of the seven was taken to hospital where physicians declared him dead.

Meghalaya police also said that one ‘miscreant’ was still in hiding.

Indian police also said that they also seized a Bangladesh police constable’s identity card, three walkie-talkies, some explosives, knives and barbed wire fence cutter.

The BBC Bangla report also said that Bangladesh police was suspecting about the authenticity of the police identity card.

Districts police in Netrakona and Sherpur along with Border Guard Bangladesh informed BBC Bangla that they knew the entire incident from media reports.
