The National Association of UNESCO Clubs in Bangladesh has been operating since 1985 as an official non-profit making partner organisation of UNESCO with a view to promoting UNESCO ideals in Bangladesh.

Established under the aegis of the Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Education, the organisation has become the member of national, regional and international networks for the purpose of acting in UNESCO鈥檚 fields of competence at the grass root level, said a press release on Friday.

Federation of UNESCO clubs and associations are volunteer-based organisations that promote UNESCO鈥檚 ideals of peace, international understanding and sustainable development at the local, national, and international levels, engaging activities related to education, science, culture, and communication.

The activities that promote UNESCO鈥檚 ideals include educational workshops, cultural events, community service projects and awareness campaigns related to education, science, culture and communication.

At the national level, clubs for UNESCO encourage the civic awareness that prepare especially youths for discharging their social responsibility.

In the recent years we have been working steadfastly to strengthen UNESCO club activities through increased cooperation among clubs for UNESCO across the globe.

The mission of clubs for UNESCO now operates around the targets of sustainable development goals, the global priorities of the time.

As we are at the verge of SDG targets, we need to go forward in a more dynamic pace. In the meantime, we have lost many valuable but indispensable working periods but noticed a clearly visible fall in empathic relations globally that has developed a hindrance on foundation needed for global peace. One of the important lessons we have learned over the years is the value of partnership.

In the pervading global pollution and warming experience, the need for sustainable resilience has once again been perceived everywhere across the globe. Whatever the situation is, we need to focus on sustainability of our actions and the regional clubs should now be reorganised accordingly to enhance the solidarity among countries.

NAUCB has already started reorganising member clubs towards changing challenges and urging UNESCO and national commissions to be on foot to go fast to keep pace with the time.
