The department of civil engineering of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology concluded the two-day training workshop titled Sanitation for Urban Low-income Communities at the seminar room of the department in Chattogram on Thursday.

CUET vice-chancellor Professor Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan was present as chief guest on the concluding day of the workshop, which was organised in collaboration with the International Training Network of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, said a press release.


Professor Sudip Kumar Pal, dean of the faculty of civil and environmental engineering; and Professor Ayesha Akhtar, head of the department of civil engineering, were present as special guests at the event.

The event was presided over by Professor Asiful Haque, director of the Institute of River, Harbour and Environmental Science and moderated by Jusan Abdullah, research assistant at the department of civil engineering.

The workshop consisted of six technical sessions and training was held at the Waste Water Treatment Plant at Halishahar in Chattogram.

Seventy trainees from the civil engineering department of the university participated in the workshop.

Certificates were distributed among the trainees at the ceremony.
