Two indigent students of two departments of the faculty of social sciences of Dhaka University were awarded a one-time trust fund scholarship of Tk 25,000 each at a programme at the DU on Thursday.
They were awarded this scholarship from the Md Munirul Islam鈥揝hamsunnahar Begum Trust Fund established at Dhaka University, said a press release.
DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as chief guest at the programme at the VC鈥檚 meeting room today, and handed over the scholarship cheques to the students.
The recipients are Md Subhan Ali Hridoy, a first-year student of the department of public administration, and Md Sihab Pradhan, a first-year student of the department of population sciences.
Presided over by DU treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, dean of the faculty of social sciences Professor Taiyebur Rahman, chairperson of the department of development studies Professor Nayeem Sultana, and donor of the trust fund and chairperson of the department of women and gender studies Umme Bushra Fateha Sultana, were present at the programme.
