The Chittagong Port Authority said that the security department of the port held a jetty assistant, Sarkar Md Ariful Islam, while collecting the pass at the GCB Gate 5 for the purpose of smuggling on-chassis container, MRKU 7133586 X 20, of Ciba Cargo International Limited.
He was handed over to the Bandar police station for legal action, said a press release on Friday.
In addition to the port鈥檚 own security personnel, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, BGB and Bangladesh Police personnel are currently deployed to ensure the overall security of the port.
In addition, NSI, DGFI, and naval intelligence are engaged in the round-the-clock security of the port, mentioned the press release.
