A Habiganj court on Sunday sentenced former Habiganj deputy commissioner Md Ataur Rahman, former additional deputy commissioner, revenue, AKM Aminul Islam and two more ex-officials to one month in prison in a contempt of court lawsuit.
Two other ex-officials are - Sadar upazila assistant commissioner-land Md Shafiul Alam and Baniachong acting assistant commissioner-land Noor Alam Siddiqui.
Senior assistant judge court judge Md Tarek Aziz gave the verdict on the day.
In 2008, a person named Abdul Hamid filed the contempt of court case against the individuals for not handing over a piece of land to the plaintiff, ignoring the court verdict.
Meanwhile, the defendant鈥檚 lawyer, Swaraj Ranjan Biswas, said that they would file an appeal against the verdict.
