
The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia issued a public notice seeking information to aid the continual investigation into the death of a student, Sajid Abdullah, of the Al-Quran and Islamic studies department.
Sajid鈥檚 body was recovered from a pond near Shah Azizur Rahman Hall on July 17. He was a resident of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall and hailed from Ghatail in Tangail.
A press release signed by Professor M Amtaz Hossain, dean of the faculty of arts, stated that the university administration was committed to a fair and transparent investigation.
Students and individuals with relevant information or evidence have been asked to submit it in written form to the IU or via WhatsApp to 01715210012 or 01716053596 within 72 hours.
Separate investigative committees have been formed by both the university and the hall administration.
In response to the incident, over 1,000 students staged a protest on Saturday, locking the administrative building and cutting off electricity to demand justice.
Their demands include campus-wide lighting, CCTV coverage, campus security, boundary wall construction and restricted entry for outsiders.
University authorities have assured that all information will be reviewed carefully and an investigation report will be submitted in due course.
