
At least six people, including three members of a family, were killed in road accidents in Gazipur and Sylhet districts between Thursday night and Friday afternoon.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Gazipur reported that five people, including three members of the same family, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a covered van in Phulbaria Borochala area under Kaliakair upazila of the district.
The deceased were identified as Jahidul Islam, 35; his wife Nasreen Nahar, 30; and their son Md Hurayra, 12; from Ishwarghat area in Dhunot upazila of Bogura; Shofiqul Islam, 55, from Keora area under Mawna union of Gazipur; and CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Muktar Hossain, 60.
Kaliakair police station officer-in-charge Abdul Mannan said that the bodies of the deceased had been sent to the morgue at Gazipur Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and legal procedures are under way.
Local people said that the auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was heading towards Kaliakair from Mawna when it collided head-on with a covered van coming from the opposite direction, leaving two passengers dead on the spot.
Three others succumbed to their injuries at Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex.
Meanwhile, United News of Bangladesh reported that a 19-year-old youth died when his motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck on the Sylhet-Tamabil Highway in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Sayeed Hossain Fahim, son of expatriate Badrul Islam, from Dema village under Darbast union in Jaintapur upazila.
Tamabil Highway police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Habibur Rahman said that legal procedures are under way.
