
Health adviser Nurjahan Begum on Monday said that they had launched an investigation into the recent recruitment of 65 doctors at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute in the capital.
‘We will take legal action based on the probe report. We will neither indulge in nor tolerate any irregularities,’ she said while responding to a reporter’s question after attending a programme marking the World Population Day at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
The specialised child care hospital has recently appointed 65 doctors without publishing any official circular or following a proper recruitment process.
The adviser said that the ministry, after being informed, asked for explanations from the hospital authorities.
According to media reports, the hospital authorities appointed 65 doctors on an ad hoc basis for six months, allegedly without publishing any circular in newspapers. No written or oral tests were taken before their appointments.
Nurjahan Begum said that youth empowerment was important for a better country. ‘Educated youths are empowered youths.’
‘We must stop child marriage and ensure quality education for girls,’ she said while speaking as the chief guest at the event.
The chief adviser’s special assistant Professor Sayedur Rahman said that the people had already seen the role of youths in making a nation.
He urged youths to get ready to face the future challenges of the world. ‘Youths should learn artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning technology knowledge to beat the world.
Health education and family planning secretary Sarwar Bari chaired the event.
