The foundation stone of July Martyrs’ Monument was laid at Bakultala in Jashore town on Monday.
Jashore deputy commissioner Azaharul Islam laid the foundation stone as the chief guest in the morning event.
The inaugural session was attended, among others, by Abul Bashar, additional superintendent of police, Jashore, Delwar Hossain Khokon, general secretary, Bangladesh Nationalist Party Jashore district unit, Maulana Abu Zafar Siddiqui, district secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Nuruzzaman, leader of National Citizen Party, Zahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jashore Press Club, Abdul Jabbar, father of July martyr Abdullah. Â
The interim government has taken a move to establish monuments in each district in memory of the July uprising martyrs.
