A Cox’s Bazar court on Wednesday granted three days police remand to Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army chief Ataullah Abu Ammar Jununi for his alleged involvement in the killing of four people in Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar in 2020.

A team of CID police produced him before the court of senior judicial magistrate Asaf Uddin Asif with a prayer for granting his seven days remand to interrogate him in connection with the murder.

The court after hearing the statement of the prosecution side granted his three-day remand.

Earlier, the ARSA chief was taken to the court from Cox’s Bazar district jail with tight security and later sent to the same jail after ending the hearing, court inspector Md Golam Jilani said.

The CID police will interrogate him at their convenient time and place, the court inspector added.

Four people were killed in a clash between the two factions of Rohingya on October 6 in 2020. ARSA chief Ataullah is an accused in that case.

Police arrested Ataullah and five of his accomplices at Siddirganj in Narayanganj and Mymensingh on March18.
