
A 52-year-old man was killed after being crushed between two buses while crossing a road near Bakshi Bazar in front of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in the capital early Wednesday.
The deceased, Zahirul Haque, was a resident of Babupara village under Ishwardi in Pabna.
The accident occurred around 1:30am when Zahirul was on his way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to visit his younger son, who is undergoing treatment there for cancer, according to the victim’s sister, Cynthia Akter.
She said that her brother was critically injured while crossing the road between BUET and Bakshi Bazar. ‘He was taken to DMCH, where doctors at its emergency unit declared him dead.’
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue. ‘The concerned police station has been informed for further action.’
