
The Anti-Corruption Commission got a total of 12,827 corruption allegations in the past 11 months since the fall of the Awami League regime in August 2024, amid a student-led mass uprising.
ACC data shows that from August last year to June this year, the ACC got 12,827 corruption complaints. Of these, there were 847 complaints in August, 898 in September, 1,687 in October, 3,406 in November, 66 in December, 350 in January, 551 in February, 951 in March, 803 in April, 1,934 in May, and 1,334 in June.
The data also showed that from August 2024 to June this year, the commission initiated inquiries into 768 allegations.
These allegations are against influential individuals including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers, state ministers, lawmakers, senior secretaries, and secretaries.
After completion of these inquiries, 399 cases were filed accusing 1,264 people in the past 11 months.
During the same period, 321 cases were investigated and charge sheets were submitted to the court, accusing 1,356 people.
ACC data shows that from August 5 last year to June this year, 399 cases were filed involving 1,264 accused people including 343 government officials, 447 private jobholder, 114 businesspeople, 92 politicians, 31 public representatives, and 237 others.
When asked, ACC deputy director for public relations Md Aktarul Islam said that the commission was working to take legal action against the country’s corrupt people.
‘If you review the ACC’s activities over the past 11 months, you will see what the commission is doing and against whom it is taking action,’ he added.
