
A couple was found dead in their home in a tea garden under Juri upazila in Moulvibazar on Sunday.
The deceased are Dilip Bunarji, 47, a worker of Elbintila Farhi Garden under Fultala Tea Garden under Juri upazila, and his wife Sari Bunarji, 38, also a worker of the same tea garden, the police said.
Elbintila Farhi Garden’s panchayet head Hargobinda Bunarji, referring to the couple’s son Litan Bunarji, told reporters that he woke up at around 9:00am and then found the body of his mother lying inside the house while his father’s body in front of the house.
Hearing the cry of Litan, the neighbours came forward and found Dilip and his wife Sari dead, he said.
Juri police station officer-in-charge Murshedul Alam Bhuiyan told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they recovered the bodies from the spot at around noon after being informed by the local residents.
He said that the bodies of the victims were sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Stating an empty bottle of poison was found abandoned in front of the victims’ house, the police officer said that they might have committed suicide by consuming poison.
‘Actual reason behind the deaths would be known after receiving the reports of the post-mortem examinations,’ he said.
