The Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate Court – 5 on Sunday sent six people to jail over the lynching of a mother, her son, and daughter in Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla.

Judge Siddique Azad of the court passed the order.


Among the accused, Bachchu Mia gave a statement under Section 164 in court.

Earlier, Bachchu Mia, Rabiul Awal, Atiqur Rahman, Md. Bayez Master, Dulal, and Akash were arrested from Dhaka on Saturday on charges related to the incident.

On Thursday morning, locals in Koroibari village of Muradnagar Upazila beat and hacked to death Roksana Akhter Ruby, her daughter Jonaki, and son Russel, accusing them of involvement in drug trafficking.

Later, Ruby’s daughter Rikta Akhter filed a murder case at Bangra Bazar Police Station.
