An elderly man was crushed under the wheels of a train on Saturday in the Baliachar canal area under Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district.
The deceased is Soleman Kazi, 70, a resident of Balia village under the upazila.
Ratan Mandal, sub-inspector of Bhanga police station, said that the incident occurred at around 9:30am.
Soleman and his wife were going to visit his daughter鈥檚 home near Baliachara playground, the SI said quoting the witnesses. At that time, Jashore-bound Jahanabad Express from Dhaka hit the elderly man and he died on the spot, the sub-inspector said.
Soleman had hearing impairment, he adding that on receiving the information, the Bhanga railway police later took the body under their custody.
