‘As the replacement cylinder failed to function, she called the shop owner, who sent technician Riyad to inspect it. During the repair work, the cylinder suddenly caught fire around 3:45pm, leaving Rubina and Riyad severely burnt,’ he said, adding that hearing their screams, six others went to the scene and were also injured.

All the victims were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for treatment, he said.

The shop owner, Badsha, informed that due to the absence of a dedicated burn unit at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, he is taking technician Riyad to Dhaka for better treatment.
